Evidence shows that that people can change their behaviors to improve nutrition outcomes, especially when the environment in which they live and work supports those changes. SPRING took a behavior-centered approach to all of their work to reduce stunting and anemia, meaning that from the beginning of any intervention, they had clear behavior change goals in mind. This brief presents some of the key learnings about social and behavior change (SBC) for nutrition between 2012 and 2017.

Reducing undernutrition requires a commitment from multiple sectors, yet documentation on how to collaborate across sectors to reach global goals is scant. Through a three-country assessment and literature review, the Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) project investigated approaches to multi-sectoral collaboration for nutrition. This paper highlights lessons that USAID and its implementing partners learned, and provides a series of recommendations to guide the designing, implementing, and monitoring of future collaboration.

There does not appear to be any refereed journal paper about any aspect of pumpkin growth, processing, marketing or use in Sierra Leone. The publicly available bibliographic database PubMed includes over 2,000 references to pumpkin. However, most are of limited or no relevance to the HKI-the Strengthening Partnerships, Results, and Innovations in Nutrition Globally (SPRING) objectives.
Thirty-nine journal papers were reviewed and have been broadly categorised into the following categories:

Mapping the maize millers was a nationwide exercise. The National Working Group on Food Fortification (NWGFF) approved the activity, which aimed to inform stakeholders about the status of the maize milling industry in Uganda. This exercise resulted from the learning exchange visit to the Sanku project site in Tanzania and aimed to establish baseline information on maize flour processing and the status of maize flour fortification in Uganda.

These manuals were designed for training mother-to-mother support group facilitators to lead participatory discussions on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition. The manuals provide detailed information on potential support group topics and answers to questions that may arise during support group sessions. The global version can be adapted for a wide variety of contexts.
