This Cochrane Systematic Review synthesizes evidence on the effects of prenatal home (point‐of‐use) fortification of foods with multiple-micronutrient powders on maternal and newborn health. Evidence from the 12 included trials is limited and suggests that use of micronutrient powders for point‐of‐use fortification yields no clear difference versus multiple-micronutrient supplements in their effect on maternal anemia (very low-quality evidence) and hemoglobin at or near term. There is limited evidence to suggest that women were more likely to adhere to taking tablets than using micronutrient powders.
