The Essential Nutrition Actions framework delivers a set of evidence-based interventions to improve nutritional status during the first 1,000 days, targeting pregnant and lactating women and their young children. The framework defines the right action to be taken by the right person at the right time in the life cycle. This updated version incorporates essential hygiene actions, which are inextricably linked to improved nutrition, going beyond handwashing to food hygiene, animal hygiene, safe water, and simple handwashing stations.
