The Forest Garden Approach diversifies farming systems with trees and food crops that meet subsistence needs and market opportunities. While conventional agriculture programs focus on one or few crops, the Forest Garden Approach is rooted in diversifying each farm with many food crops and thousands of trees so farming families will be self-sufficient in their production of food, timber and non-timber forest products. This training set includes a facilitator's guide, training of trainers guide, technical manual, and workbooks for four years.

This manual is designed to be an aid to facilitate training workshops for agricultural extension officers working under the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Urban Gardens Program. The training aims to improve participants’ knowledge of nutrition and to build skills in integrating nutrition education into existing agriculture activities. The manual also includes nutrition education activities for use with adult caregivers and orphans and vulnerable children. The manual lays out the structure for 11 training sessions, including estimates for time and suggested exercises.

This training manual targets adult learners in agricultural producers’ networks and community health and nutrition workers in Senegal to illustrate the link between gender and nutrition. Specifically, it emphasizes men’s involvement in the management of household nutrition and health, encourages women’s participation in household decision-making, and promotes equal sharing of nutrition-sensitive tasks.

This gender training for nutrition programs is intended to be adapted to the needs of programs across a wide range of contexts. Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to 1) identify key gender concepts, including the gender integration continuum; 2) describe why gender analysis is important; 3) explain how to conduct a gender analysis, and 4) complete a gender integration action plan. Users should review the guide and accompanying presentation slide deck prior to conducting the training to ensure the examples and content are relevant to participants.

This resource package provides training materials from a Training of Trainers on Adolescent Nutrition Counseling in Laos. It contains interactive activities for participants, including simulations and role-playing, and includes strategies for engaging with adolescents.

Diverse guidance exists on how to best design and use a theory of change. This curriculum presents one method that does its best to align with the requirements of creating a development hypothesis for development food security activities funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development Office of Food for Peace. The curriculum draws on experience in program and theory of change development, participant feedback from five years of workshops, and input from the Office of Food for Peace monitoring and evaluation team.
