In this article, authors argue that school health programs have the potential to mitigate a growing epidemic of malnutrition in children and adolescents through the provision of healthy school meals, micronutrient supplementation, setting standards for drinks and beverages, as well as through promoting nutrition literacy. They advocate for increased investment in strengthening school health and nutrition, particularly by adopting the global standards for health promoting schools developed by the World Health Organization and partners.
