Background:
The conference, Accelerating Progress towards the 2030 SDGs – Reducing inequities in child health, is currently scheduled for June 6-7, 2023 and the save the date announcement has been shared with the members. A call for abstracts will be sent out in February and the Conference Planning Committee will review the abstracts under each thematic track (see below) to decide on the concurrent session. The conference will be fully virtual and hosted on an online mini-website/conference platform. It will include a combination of pre-recorded and live Zoom sessions, plenary opening and closing sessions with a keynote speaker, concurrent sessions organized around the three tracks, speed presentations/poster sessions, virtual booths for participating partners, and opportunities for networking (chat rooms, virtual coffee breaks, etc.). The conference platform and most sessions will be in both English and French with simultaneous interpretation.
Responsibilities:
The consultant will support the Secretariat to plan the virtual conference within the given timeframe. Specifically, the consultant will:
- develop a detailed gantt chart with tasks broken down and assigned responsibilities to meet the timeline outlined below
- develop and/or make updates to the virtual conference webpage on the Child Health Task Force website
- schedule regular meetings with the Secretariat, the conference planning committee, and the production company (to create the online conference platform) to keep the team on track
- liaise with the production company to develop the virtual platform for participants
- develop dissemination materials including communications with Task Force members and other partners around conference updates, reminders, etc.
- develop the conference agenda and detailed run of show in collaboration with the conference planning committee and Secretariat
- organize and disseminate conference background materials for each of the sessions/under each thematic track
- organize and lead pre-conference prep calls
- attend the virtual conference, support back-end logistics as needed, and take notes
- develop a conference report to share with participants and the Steering Committee
Consultant Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a development and/or communications field e.g. public health, international development, or health communications
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in global development
- Proven experience in organizing major virtual conferences/events in global health
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience in high level collaboration with partners from a multi-sectoral and multi-cultural perspective
- Experience in child health preferred
- French language skills preferred
